Implementation of an Automated Production Planning System for the Manufacturing Industry
Category: Dx Promotion
Sub Category: Business flow optimization, Eliminate individualized tasks, Business automation
Industry: Automotive Parts Manufacturer
Background
Before the system was implemented, the following challenges existed:
・Each department managed data individually using Excel, making information sharing and centralized management difficult. As a result, it was challenging for management to gain a comprehensive overview and maintain control.
・The production planning process relied heavily on manually prepared Excel files each month, making it overly complex, difficult to adjust, and highly prone to human error.
・The workflow from order to production was inefficient, and accelerating overall operations had become a key issue.
Solution
We built a system that imports forecast information and order data into a production planning engine, which automatically generates optimal production schedules by referencing master data and inventory information. Furthermore, by implementing the system as a web-based platform, we enabled company-wide information sharing and successfully moved away from reliance on Excel.
Results
The system implementation delivered the following results:
・Centralized data management enabled improved accuracy of master data and promoted standardization of operations.
・By driving digital transformation (DX), the overall workflow was restructured, resulting in a more flexible and efficient operational framework.
・Manual data entry errors and task dependence on specific individuals were eliminated, establishing a system that allows anyone to carry out tasks with ease and clarity.
・Automated calculations significantly improved processing speed, leading to enhanced productivity.
・With the transition to a web-based system, real-time data sharing across the organization became possible, laying the foundation for further DX initiatives.
