Development of a Time Tracking and Document Management System for the Construction Industry

We were consulted regarding the challenges of managing attendance in the construction industry, particularly with respect to on-site and subcontractor management, where existing off-the-shelf software did not meet operational needs. In response, we developed a custom-built attendance management system. Additionally, the client requested centralized management of detailed information related to document creation, such as estimates and invoices. We addressed this by developing and implementing a fully customized web-based system tailored specifically to their internal operations.

Industry: construction industry

Background

Before the system was introduced, the following issues were present:

・Although several packaged attendance tracking systems had been considered, none matched the actual operational needs of individual construction sites, leading to a request for a custom-built solution.

・The document management system relied on legacy Windows-based software, which frequently required updates due to OS dependencies. As a result, transitioning to a web-based system had become an urgent priority.

Solution

We transitioned both the time tracking and document management systems to web-based platforms, enabling clock-ins and document creation from job sites and while on the go. By developing a fully customized system, we ensured flexible operations that align with on-site realities, and provided a system foundation capable of stable, long-term use.

Results

・Real-time time tracking and document creation from job sites and while on the go became possible, enabling constant visibility into on-site conditions.

・Operational flexibility at the worksite increased, significantly expanding the range of tasks that could be handled.

・By eliminating OS dependency, the burden of system maintenance and operation was greatly reduced.
