Background
Before the system was implemented, the following challenges were present:
・Shift creation required significant time and effort, and each change necessitated rescheduling, making the process increasingly complex.
・Responding to employee complaints and requests regarding shifts became a mental burden, and it was difficult to fully account for interpersonal compatibility among staff members.
・With day-to-day tasks taking priority, there was little room to approach shift planning from a management perspective, making it difficult to optimize labor costs.
Solution
・We implemented a system in which AI automatically calculates the optimal shift schedule at the push of a button. The AI generates shift plans that take into account employment types, individual preferences, and even interpersonal compatibility.
・When addressing employee dissatisfaction, explaining that the schedule was determined by AI helped reduce the direct burden on managers.
・The system allows users to set labor cost ratios based on sales forecasts and includes an intuitive interface for adjusting a variety of shift parameters.
Results
・The shift creation process was automated, establishing a system in which anyone can easily create shift schedules without relying on a specific individual.
・By optimizing the AI algorithm to match the client’s operational style, the system also contributed to improved internal communication.
・The ability to approach shift planning from a management perspective enabled a redefinition of shift operations—not as a “cost,” but as a “value-generating task.”
